How To Capture A Life Story Quickly

The 550 life story questions used inside The Life Writer App are the “soul” of the program. They were developed from working with real world life story writers over many years.

Those questions make the writing process easy – – – although the writer does not have to use any of the questions if they don’t want to (the app will create a memoir book with other types of content also).

With the holidays approaching, I though it might be helpful to create a set of “portable” questions, so that people can capture the life story of a loved one quickly – wherever they are.

Those questions are attached below and made available for your own personal use with your loved ones  (non-commercial use only).

The last page contains a few tips, which I will repeat here:

– There is no right or wrong way to capture a life story, so ENJOY the process!

– Once you begin asking questions, your loved one will probably offer you additional stories and content. Go for it! (You might need more paper, though).

– While it’s best to interview your loved one in person, you don’t have to. You can also collect their story over the phone, via Skype/Facetime, email, or even text message! (Just do it).

– You don’t have to ask ALL of the questions at once. You can spread them out over time  … (like, maybe one per week)?

– Old photos are valuable. You should ask your loved one to show you a few of their favorite photos. Just be sure to ask them the story behind the photo also.  They say that a photo is worth a thousand words. The story behind the photo is worth a million.
