How To Reduce Stress:
If you are a living, breathing human being, chances are that you have been feeling stress this year.
It is impossible to not watch the news, talk to coworkers, read social media posts, or even listen to the radio without feeling your anxiety and stress rise.
I admit it, I get stressed out at times also.
But, I don’t like to feel that way and it’s not good for your health, so I am doing a few things that help to counter it.
I hope they help you, too!
Here They Are:
– Take some slow deep breaths, inhale and exhale through your nose and count to 10 (with 5 seconds breathing in, a pause, then 5 seconds breathing out).
– Listen to music – all types: Lively music for movement, and calm gentle music to unwind, like at night.
– Eat healthy foods that are delicious and fun (easier said than done)!
– Quality sleep is not a luxury. It is a requirement. If you feel anxious and stressed, quality sleep will help. Taking a warm bath, reading a good book, and avoiding screen time at night will help also.
– Exercise that you enjoy. I run for cardio fitness, walk for relaxation, and especially in nature (we are lucky there are some many woods here in North Carolina)!
– Learn to laugh. My father had the uncanny ability to laugh even during the most difficult times. I guess six kids force you to do that! He lived to be 95 years old, so laughter certainly helped him.
– Remember some of the positive things in your life. You probably have many things to be thankful for. Think about your loved ones, your health, your friends, your pets, your home, reading a good book, the birds singing, being healthy and alive, being thankful for the adventure of living another day (no matter how stressful).
– Writing is a great stress reliever and therapeutic also! Many of our customers have mentioned that writing their life story has been a comforting way of reducing stress for them.
Whatever way you choose to manage your stress, I hope that you can make it fun and enjoyable!
